Hi all, Just checking in now that things are settling down a bit.
I like Crate & Barrel for sofas (and most stuff, actually). Can get a good one for $1000-1500 there & delivery is super reliable. Hate leather sofas, btw, so can’t speak about them.
what prey-tell is “adult” furniture? i think one of the perks of living in nyc is that you really don’t have to ever buy furniture because people are always getting rid of some kick ass stuff. you do have to have a keen nose for bedbugs tho. but that’s easily avoidable as long as you dont take in stuff made of cloth or wood for the most part. i also usually let my dog sniff whatever i find. if he sniffs too hard and wags his tail too hard it means one of two things. 1.) the previous owner had pets, for which i then do not want the furniture or 2.) there are bedbugs in it, or cockroach exoskeletons.
if worried about spills and wearing on sofa…just get the plastic slip covers…very retro….And won’t need to worry about fleas or bedbugs invading furniture.
Cobble, I suggest you read through the Superfund thread…and anyone else living in or around BoCoCa or contemplating it.
“Thanks, CGar, but as it turns out it gives me time to work on some other pressing matters.”
guess Cobble is stuck doing the ironing today.
“I’m also thinking of biking – I assume there have to be bike racks here.”
Indeed, I’ve seen some really nice racks around there; particularly in the summer.
