Rob,
focus groups are easy and you don’t have to lie about everything. If the recruiter is savy, he/she will guide you to the correct response (I suspect they get paid per participant). The only thing about focus groups is that they do keep a database of your responses, so if you’re going to make things up you have to be consistent.
I have done a few, both for my professional/work opinion (they pay very well) and for my unprofessional opinion.
They pay in cash at the end of the session. You really never know what demographic that they are looking for. For example, one group I remember being asked to participate in was on bottled water.
dibs,
did you happen to read about that auction last year of Yves Saint Laurent’s art holdings and furnishings?
I was amazed at the prices being paid for some objects,
somebody paid about 23million for an arm chair.
The art work prices didn’t surprise me but the furnishings like chairs and lamps were crazy expensive.
The auction took in 500million I believe.
this quote from a detroit message board makes me sad for reason.
“Probably TWO duplexes for $1000.00 per month. My house payment plus taxes and insurance was under $400.00 for a $25,000.00 house. Now you can get decent houses cheap enough to put on a credit card. But why would you want to be tied down to a house when you’re in college? I guess if you’re just going to buy it and throw it away when you’re done with it because it’s cheaper than rent.”
I should get paid for every opinion I post on here. I’m always very focused.
lesbiman, have you ever picked up anyone from a focus group????

Legion, I did not. I only follow the auctions for Early American furniture, objects and artwork.

Anything sold by a bodega or a 7-11. Also, used video games and anything from Sanrio Corp. (Hello Kitty).
