  1. Thanks Denton. I’ve seen all of those sites when I did my own self-guided tour of that area and Harlem and I agree that all of the highlights you mentioned are certainly worth seeing.

Toronto had the same kind of subway cars back in the day (and maybe still do) as the ones to which you referred. Granted the Toronto subway system is a tiny fraction of what the system is here and it’s almost all underground but it was still fun to stand at the front and be able to see up ahead.

i wasnt run out of HARLEM the neighborhood, i was run out of a wacked out crazydoodle apartment situation! and fyi, there is NOTHING gentrified about harlem. it’s still a disgusting cesspool. nice place to visit and party, but not a nice place to live.

  3. You’re right denton. I take that up to visit my sister sometimes when I don’t take the 4. By her are some of the old Irish bars, a set of stairs that would make a mountain climber gasp for air, and some fascinating remnants of the old Bronx.

  4. Slopey, I’ve been wracking my already beat up brain since you posted that…can’t come up with a thing! What I usually do, which is not a novel idea in the least, is just walk up and down the numbered streets from 10th-25 between 4th and 7th aves oogling at the frame houses I like and imagining what I’d do with them on the inside 🙂
