Yup, 17th Street! It’s dangerous, but the fastest way to get there. They put up a no pedestrian crossing sign a couple years ago, but everyone just ignores it. What they should do is block off a foot path for walkers to get down there safely. Every time I walk down there, the construction workers yell at me and point out the no pedestrian crossing sign. I just smile, wave and keep on going. One of these days my luck is gonna run out and I’m gonna wind up with the imprint of an SUV’s front grill stamped on my forehead.
Snaps – Even worse must’ve been from HD to Lowe’s! I did it once the other way & it was hair-raising. Just put a couple of saucepans on the stove.
My nieces now make more than I do so I send them cute little toys. They say they enjoy them.
M4L, said niece doesn’t send anything to the Champs, but given they’re first cousins (and not an Aunt/niece relationship), I wouldn’t expect her to send anything. Plus, she and her parents are very good to the Champs when we visit them. I think I’ll stop with the money in the card but take her our for drinks and dinner since I do have a chance to see her a few times a year. That would seem a bit more of a “grown up” thing to do…not that I’m claiming I’m a grown up, or anything like that.
actually my grandmother sends me 50 bux on christmas and my birthday still, from her measly social security check (tho i did recently find out she is getting something from my grandfather’s pension). is that weird? im always like no please dont send anything but then i feel like it would offend her if i refuse.
biff, if said niece sends birthday cards/stuff to your kids the yes, you’ll need to continue sending her stuff/$$$. if not, you can cut her off – ie she old enough to treat the kiddies with b’day card/stuff so if she aint holding up her end, you dont need to either

Snaps:
oh good god, i know EXACTLY where you were – on 17th street with the curvy road that the cars speed up from Hamilton on?
Rob – ah ok, time to get some nice bedding – you deserve it
leather couches are super hot to sleep on!

Rob – oy, so where did your previous bedding come from?
from 2001 – 2005 i slept on a raft. (for realz) then my dog destroyed it and i slept on nothing.
i now sleep on a leather sofa. there were years in between where i slept on a proper bed, but im repressing those from memory.
not a fan of the traditional bed.

shrug. i just sorta inherit those kinds of things from various places. i can’t justify certain purchases with a clear conscience.
