  1. The rules of the military proceedings that should be employeed to try the terrorists were established at the Nuremberg military tribunals. There is no shortage of precedent in international law for trying these people in military tribunals. And if some of the accused terrorists are really innocent, whose to say they won’t be acquitted. Three of the top Nazis were acquitted; 7 were given long prison terms (10, 15, 20 years, and life in several cases); and the rest were sentenced to death and hanged. I’m not suggesting an international military tribunal, but what is wrong with U.S. military tribunals?

  2. “Saying we should try this person in a civilian court is like saying we should have tried the Japanese pilots who bombed Pearl Harbor.”

WWII was a real war, not a spending item on a Federal budget.

When the Japanese bombed Pearl harbor we were not yet at war with them.

I’m not sure how many more terrorit attacks it’ll take before we declare some sort of more formal war.

The politics of a real war would be far too much for any of these numbskulls in Washington to deal with.

  3. So Timothy McVeigh shold have been tried in a military court too.

I found a red elephant on the sitemeter but when I clicked it it it went to Comedy Central.

  5. Joe: There are a lot of civilian casualties in war. We have a lot of 18 year old kids who aren’t all that smart operating our weapons (I know, I’ve served). Do you think you can do better? If so have you volunteered to serve or are you content to just let the scared 18 year old kids who have no other options go out and get blamed for civilian casualties?
