  1. benson,
    I think you’re right. budget deficits are expected in times of war, but the projected deficits 5 years out are ridiculous and unsustainable. If inflation starts eating away at dollar value it’s basically like a tidal wave hitting the middle class (the home, co-op and condo owners) whose life savings are vested in their homes which will be worth less than before, not to mention retirement accounts.
    the term teabaggers, used by many pundits on the left is just an attempt to marginalize and minimize a real and grassroots movement of citizens who are reacting to their government’s policies. And no, I’m not talking about the few lunatics who show up at rallies with ridiculous signage or worse. I’ve been to a few gatherings and parades; left and right, including the NYC republican convention recently and I can tell you the loons are on both extremes.

  2. Montrose;

    The GOP HAS presented an alternative Health Care plan, just as they proposed an alternative to the $800 billion dollar stiumlus. With regard to the latter, their proposal was a 6 month suspension of the SS payroll tax.

    I asked folks to justify what President Obama is doing. He has democrat majorities in both houses of congress AND a 60 member vote is not required in the Senate for budgeting. The ball is squarely in their court.

    If you believe a justification for what he is doing should consist of bashing the GOP, that is telling. Folks want to hear a plan, not finger-pointing.

  3. So I’m working on our bookkeeping and doing the spreadsheets for our finances.

    I came across a receipt for Promenade Car Wash.
    Did the kids of Brooklyn Heights set up a car wash? Maybe their parents aren’t giving them their allowance.

  4. Well, considering the Bush administration never counted the 2 wars in their budgets, ever, I think a redo on the numbers would be in order.

    Be that as it may, I’d like to know what anyone else proposes to do differently. The right is screaming like banshees about the budget, but don’t want to do anything except cut taxes, especially for the rich and corporations. You don’t need a degree in econ to see the wtf moment in that argument. They have come up with nothing but criticism, but their own budget ideas didn’t even come with numbers, just pronouncements, and negative remarks.

    I enjoyed the President’s talk with the GOP last week. They better start coming up with some solutions and ideas for the entire country they profess to represent, instead of being nothing more than the party of NO.

  5. And David Brooks thinks Obama’s programs will have a better chance of passing if there is an upset – middle-of-the-road GOPers will be as terrified of teabags as other sensible people are.

  6. Delepp, would you around when that massive flr-thru unit (believe it’s the flr above the bldg entrance) was on the mkt? that was pretty nicely tricked out – modern flare with some details incorporated. believe it was asking 1.25M

  7. “Perhaps if people read the transcript or watched the video of the Obama Q & A instead of only getting their info from Fox News,they might have a more accurate perspective about the budget”.

    Bxgrl;

    Well, I quoted facts from the WSJ. Since you believe that people are mis-guided, would you please justify these deficits and what President Obama is doing? In other words, please provide the counter-balance that you believe is necessary, in terms of facts and policy.
