I keep telling my wife the world (or the US) is coming to an end so stop day dreaming of living in Cobble Hill and just move into our Crown Heights pad. Instead of “Amen”, I got 2 slaps to the head.
rh & MM…I was in La Table Exquise. I agree that the pastries are excellent but I fear that this couple, though they are clearly excellent pastry chefs, don’t know the first thing about running a business. They had virtually nothing for sale in the cabinet.
I hope I’m wrong but I don’t know how they are paying rent, utilities and making a living on the small amount of items they had for sale.
Slate has an article today on how Edwards tried to get away with it undetected. Pretty stunning stuff. (I know, getting you to read Slate is kind of like getting me to read the WSJ editorials, but still . . . ). Happy to agree with you and bx on that one. What amazes me is that anyone of that statute and visibility still thinks he can get away with it in the media and data environment we are in. And it would never occur to someone like Edwards to question whether he had the judgment needed to be prsident.
It was so cold this weekend that I didn’t notice a sign but it’s on the northwest corner, facing Tompkins. Easy to miss because it’s set back from the building line on that block.
They do parties–had a birthday party on Saturday during the day and some kind of champagne thing in the evening. They are also planning a Haiti benefit. Sebastien’s wife and partner is from Martinique.
Finishing up our finances for 2009.
Guess how much we spent on Gas (for the car) last year. The number is massive (to me).
The person who comes in closest without going over the actual price will win the gas guzzling jalopy and a years supply of Armorall.
Slopey;
The best advice I would give to anyone today is: assume ANYTHING that you write or record is going to make it into the public realm.

I saw this too – the current production got very good reviews. I’m up for an outing (not the least of the reasons is to see Scarlett live!!).
One of my uncles has home movies of Red Hook taken in 1958. It is unbelievable – what a different world.
benson,

Obviously there were a few cast changes to the originally announced play I posted. But Liev Schreiber is apparently excellent in the show.
Grammys suck
Their card says French Mini Pastry.
It also says La Table Exquise.
