Oops, one other biggie:
How is the job market in general in your role? Are you talking with other permanent opportunities now (or likely to get one in the next couple of months)?
AH see, i just looked up the racial makeup of my town around the time i went to school
The racial makeup of the township was 67.36% White, 2.72% African American, 0.40% Native American, 6.47% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 15.53% from other races, and 7.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 57.25% of the population.
CGar, how comfortable do you feel approaching your boss and asking for a package if he thinks you’re not “working out?”
If you’ve been there a long time, chances are the package would be really good + you can then take on the consulting position and keep the package money aside for later!!!
Waiting for the package to come might get you more but then the consulting gig may not still be there.
Do you have some seniority to take a pension with you???
CGar:
1) Is it the same death star you spoke with last summer? If so, what happened since then with them & what caused them to come back now?
2) How do you feel about the work you would be doing at the new place? Would it open any doors wrt getting something more permanent externally as well as the internal possibility?
3) Is the $$ better?
4) Do you think that the consulting gig would last longer than you have left at your existing place?
If you answer yes to 2 or more of 2-4, I would say go for it.

Rob, your high school was 90% white!!!! As Biff put it (not in those exact words)…. your graduating class was whiter than Yale’s alumni list.
that is ridiculous. it was not 90 % white. it was most definitely at least half hispanic. i went to school there i should know!!! but it also had lots of asians and brazillians and stuff.
