I’m looking forward to the World Cup too.
I’m hoping the American team gives it to the Italians who played dirty last time around.

haven’t been there since childhood,but I remember the beautiful old (Spanish colonial) city on the Caribbean.
Did you run into Garcia Marquez at one of the cantinas?
I preferred the “Battle of Nations” angle, and the world brotherhood of everyone competing.
Now only the World Cup will satisfy my bloodlust to see the Dutch get their asses handed to them, and the Argentines to deal death to those flare-lighting, samba-shaking fuckers, the Brazilians.

Well, etson is abandoning us to move to Toronto. And we’re seeing him off on the 11th. So if you’re not going to post as frequently, then you must at least come drink with us, and allow us to toast to your new venture.
I went to walk the dog. I’m back! I made a little career change, starting my own little project which includes a return to travel writing. I was in Cartagena., Colo. last week. It all took lots of time and energy, so no Brownstoner posting. I’m not done yet, so I’ll only check in from time to time. It’s time to make myself rich as opposed to Mr. Brownstoner! What’s been happening around here?

for me, winter olympics feels like a competition of well to-do folks’ sports hence never connected well to it.
