etson- you don’t find it ironic that the party that exploded spending is now pointing fingers? The party that paired tax cuts with enormous increases in spending now complains that Obama is spending too much?
“What the heck does ‘sweat the vegetables’ mean???”
Hi Expert, It means to cook them on low heat, with the lid on, until they start to sweat out the moisture they contain. They start to look translucent, softened and ‘wet’. You don’t want to brown them.
“Source? (Not disputing it, just want to know where it came from)”
That would probably be considered general knowledge. I’m pretty sure if you look at food production stats and population numbers it makes sense. The main point was that China (as does much of Asia) gets much if not most of its main staple food, rice from the U.S. That’s the kind of leverage that no amount of Walmart merch can buy.
Also, think Australia, Argentina, Canada and a few others could all feed themselves without imports.
All three are big ag products exporters, if that is the definition.
What should the Republicans be doing ‘for the good of the country’ then?
I think trying to keep spending from exploding even further is for the good of the country.

“NO NEW EXPENSIVE BUDGET BUSTER”
I agree. Smaller gov’t with lower taxes is the only chance the working and middle classes have to not be robbed blind by gov’t waste and corruption.

Russia shows up as a modest net importer.

I’ll be voting all the independent candidates or more republicans so Govt stalls and NO NEW EXPENSIVE BUDGET BUSTER stuff can be enacted.

dibs- not to the extent the Republicans are practicing it. From day one- before the man even walked through the door of the White House.
