That’s a relief, Biff! I’ll hit you up for more knowledge before I go.
Majority of those I came across seemed to be either “… & Firkin” or Jack Astor’s.
Montrose, Most pubs used to close at 11pm so everyone would go straight from work, assuming they made it back from lunch!
It was technically possible to do an all-nighter even then though. Some pubs had late licenses, then clubs were open till 2 or 4. Then some of the pubs near Smithfield meat market opened in the early am because of the porters’ shifts.
I did all elements of this at different times but never the whole thing all the way through.
“etson, but the best chinese food on western hemisphere is in Toronto”
Completely true and I’m also shocked every time I go back to see the incredible numbers of Asian there now…in ALL neighbourhoods. While New York may have a higher absolute number, I’m certain the percentage of Asians of the total population is way higher than anywhere else outside of Asia (and outside of Vancouver). DIBS would be in heaven!

Sound more like gay bars than pubs

I’ve sampled the Asian fare in vancouver. It’s very good.
etson, there are lots of great pubs in Toronto and not “chain” pubs, especially downtown.

I thought DIBS usually brings the brownies (or at least admires the ones that are there).
