  1. She’s being picked on because she’s gaming the system. Yes, the system is broken. The people in the Housing Authority are lazy and that organization is broken from the top to the bottom. There’s a culture of ineptitude throughout.

  2. This was at Pearson airport and I am not kidding.

The man told me to put my hands behind my belt. I thought he just wanted me to lift my shirt so he could see the belt. Then he asked me to literally put my hands down my pants, INSIDE of my gauchies, until you couldn’t see my hands anymore. As nutty as that was (re-write), I was horrified when he asked Champ #1 to do it. I was shocked.

This is in Toronto, G10. But it isn’t the Canadian authorities who are responsible for it, even though the Mounties do the search. It is a result of the Americans insisting these procedures occur at the 6 major Canadian airports. I am sure similar procedures are also being implemented in other cities globally for all flights going into the States.

I really believe if someone wants to smuggle something on, they will find a way and all of these new checks are useless. It is remarkable how reactive the authorities are.

  3. Thanks for making that point M4L. I don’t mind a real discussion of the realities of public housing, but trashing someone for living in a difficult place, having her son live with her and is doing good in the community is not a real discussion. She does pay rent mind you. And taxes. But- omg! she has a 3 bedroom! lets trash her and call her a leech and a bloodsucker. Sickening.

  4. “which side was doing that search? NY or Canada?”

“I suggest you fly from Toronto to New York now.”

Gem, I’m assuming in Toronto before you board a plane to NY.
    But let Biff answer.
I’ve been ‘detained’ by airport security so many times. FYI – They don’t have a sense of humor. Don’t crack jokes when being questioned!

Also, the worst time was when driving back from Toronto to NY. We got detained at the checkpoint/homeland security for 3 hours.

  5. quote:
As opposed to the hard racism of some people here who assume the woman is gaming the system , ripping us all of as a welfare queen and should be called a leech and every other name in the book simply for living in a big apartment you think might be heavily subsidized?

dont EVEN attempt to pull the racist card on me for my opinion on this issue. the lady IS gaming the system. and no one is “thinking” it’s heavily subsidized. it IS heavily subsidized. they flat out said what her rent is.
