Arkady,
there is her statement as reported by the Boston Herald.
you say you are in accord? so for the first time in her adult life she was proud of her nation, a nation that saw her rise to a powerful position in her own private life and the wife of a US Senator.
sorry, I’m not on board with that.
sure you may agree. we are diametrically opposed then and that’s ok too. I see it as a statement of posturing privilege with ingratitude mixed in. And I know most Americans do not share her feelings.
“They are also building schools for the Afghan children so that there is hope and opportunity in our neighboring country of Afghanistan.” –Sarah Palin, speaking at a fundraiser in San Francisco, Oct. 5, 2008
Legion- Obama is a pragmatist and has a much better grasp of how to get our foreign policy back on track after the devastation wrought by Bush, Cheney and friends. As to the “lack of success” in the war on terrorism, can anyone honestly think any leader is capable of stopping radical Islamist (or rabid Tea Party folk for that matter?) in less than a year? To think so is unrealistic. You may interpret his World tour as apologist- that’s a right wing spin and a totally inaccurate one. And frankly, foreign policy under Bush was not only an embarrassment, it was detrimental to us.
Agree McCain deserves accolades for his war service and I was appalled at his last campaign. But to praise him for his perceived outspokenness on health care and foreign policy? The man has done more major flip flops than a shoe store. I used to really respect him until he sold himself out to win the Presidency. The man who stood up to Bush is long gone.
Legion – I’ll take the wager in a few more months. I want to see how off the wall the tea party goes. At the moment I’m optimistic about Dem chances as happened in upstate NY. But realistically, I bear in mind that GWB got a 2nd term when I truly didn’t believe he would w/o more subterfuge on the part of the Supreme Ct. Let’s revisit the bet in June.
I was in accord w/ Michelle’s statement. I hadn’t been proud of my country for 8 years. Had I been a black female I think I’d’ve been more revolutionary.
O believes in terrorists & in fighting them – he realizes that the disenfranchisement of most of the world from the US was an incubator of much of it. Having re-established some positive feelings about us, he’ll toughen his stance.

Arkady,
let’s make a bet.
will Republicans increase their number of senators in 10 months or will Democrats?
