  1. “I still do not have a blackberry type phone. I can text quite efficiently from my LG flip phone and I do not want to get into that mode of being an asshole surfing the web and sending emails on my phone.”

I’m with Dave. I used to be required to be available by Blackberry 24/7 when I worked for the West Coast based “Major Tarp Recipient”. When I left I went through major Crackebrry withdrawal.

My husband, who loathed my constant checking of the Crackberry urged me to go back to a regular flip type phone. It’s a really nice phone but now He’s got my undivided attention in the evenings instead of the stupid Crackberry.

These days I think maybe we’re too connected and maybe dialing it back a bit isn’t the worst idea.

  2. Joe….that’s why i like the flip phones. I think that they are better designed to be closer to ear/mouth for more effective listening than smaller phones and PDA style phones.

My goal was to get the smallest phone possible within reason and for it to be flip.

  3. I have land lines & even one hard-wired phone – only thing that worked on 9-11. Also need it for fax – all my letterhead has that number & clients do too. 5 t.v. sets – none of which works. 4 terlets – all working.

  4. Is it just me or is anyone else annoyed by the sound quality of cellphones? Between the noise of traffic when you’re on the street and bad reception, I feel like the only time I can have a decent convo is on at the office or at home on a land line. Maybe I’m losing my hearing or just don’t have the attention span but to me cell phones are more a necessity thing than an enjoyable experience, I get annoyed when my younger cousins want to text back and forth. I’m like “stop texting, call me later and most importantly pay attention in class in your $30K + /annual college!”

  5. I do prepay as well when I’m here as no point in paying the monthly charges when I’m not here.

I forgot to bring my US sim card so went to T-Mobile to get a replacement (rather than getting another number and having to tell everyone what my new number is). It cost me $16 – but for that I got a spare handset and a second sim with $20 call credit on it as well. Hooray!
