  1. Cgar- I got you in the calendar.

    Today’s discussion is very civil, I just thought after reading the article and in the spirit of a new year that we all could try and be a little more thoughtful before pressing that send button. And yes, Brownstoner is quite the civil blog…. have you ever read the comments on the daily news site? Those whackos make me afraid for the human race at times. And yes DIBS that last point was pathetic but I didn’t want to remove anything from the article.

    This time of year I try to take stock in what is good in my life and look back on what I could change in the future. I to at times have fallen for the bait and gotten into ridiculous arguments online.

    If I don’t speak with you before year’s end, I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year.

  2. cgar,

    on Bush’s exploding deficit;

    as a ratio of deficit to GDP
    the previous 4 administrations brought up the deficits a good 10 percent by the time they left office.
    by the time Bush left office he raised the percentage to close to 70% with the wars and a quite generous domestic policy which he will never get credit for.
    Obama’s percentage of GDP will be over 100% by 2014. That’s three years to bring the deficit where the previous 30 years didn’t. this is troubling.

  3. “as I clearly see you are making an enormous attempt to reconcile all these things into a thoughtful and new discourse”

    Thanks, Legion, lol. I don’t know that it’s thoughtful and new so much as my actual centrist/moderate political views. I think it’s just a rare day that I’m willing to jump into a political debate on the OT, since I usually come here for the boys, the broads and the booze.
