“Kens, we just posted the same thing…it’s requirement number 3 I’m talking about. Forcing someone to pay for a driver’s education course is crap.”
I hope you feel the same way about firearms courses, crane operator courses, and medical board certification. After all, just because you’re driving a 4000lb lethal vehicle that kills 30,000 people a year, why be bothered with a silly course?
The license requirements in Europe, where they actually take driving seriously, are MUCH more rigorous than a 5 hour class and driving around a parking lot.
And I would suggest that if you don’t have a license you take an hour class actually driving with an instructor. Not because you can’t drive, but because driving well and driving to pass the test are two different things. The instructor can clue you in on the little tricks you need to pass the test.
It’s also said the examiners treat you better if you show up in a school car than if you show up in a friend’s.

Years ago my ideal dinner was quenelles at La G, entree at Le Cygne & dessert souffle at Lutece. Did it once = magic!
