Blwofish while I understand where you’re coming from. I’m going to venture that most of my clothes were manufacture in sweat shops somewhere around the globe. My Sneakers put together by children, my fruits and veg. picked by deplorably underpaid migrant farm-workers.
For that reason there are a lot of people who choose to ONLY buy diamonds on the secondary (vintage) market. All of my diamonds other than my fancy colored are inherited through my family from my great uncle who was a diamond cutter.
Did you see that one of the revenue raisers in the Senate’s health care reform bill is to heavily tax the tanning industry. This is going to drive the cast of Jersey Shore into bankruptcy!
Snapster, did you happen to catch SNL? Snookie (or SNL’s version of Snookie) was on Weekend Update.
“I propose Brooklyn Inn for Jan 21….or some place along Atlantic.”
Dave, I was thinking of someplace along the Atlantic or Smith Street corridors – close to a lot of transportation so there’s likely to be a bigger turnout. (I mean, I love Sycamore and all, but it’s practically in Outer Mongolia.) Will confer with the venue expert when he returns from the far north.
Blowfish, what you describe are fake diamonds. If it’s man-made in any way, it’s not the real thing. The conflict free diamonds are basically any diamond not mined in Africa at this point. It’s all about the social/economic/political ramifications of mining said diamonds there. There was a great 3 part series the Discovery Channel did on the social/econ/political ramifications of diamond mining in South Africa.
Snappy, I saw some of that special as well. VERY good. I missed part two and have been waiting for it to re-air.

Is Biffy off mining Canadian diamonds? Someone should get in touch with him and have him bring something back for Chicken.
