  1. As I recall, I’m not the only one who thought MM was a man. From the Times, last January:

“And so, on Oct. 16, in another example of the virtual joining forces with the brick and mortar, the Brownstoners gathered in the comfortable, clubby, real-world confines of the Union Hall bar and restaurant in Park Slope. Wearing tags with their user names, and bearing a notable absence of ill will, they finally met one another face to face.

The next day, online, the partygoers spoke enthusiastically about the experience. Some noted that their virtual friends didn’t look like what they had expected. A poster named Slopefarm was shocked to discover that Montrose Morris was a woman. Ms. Morris got her own surprise, as she commented, tongue firmly in cheek: “Slopefarm, good to meet you, too. I’m disappointed you didn’t have a stalk of organic, heritage, artisanal hay harvested by Bhutanese nuns between your teeth. You are in Park Slope, after all.””

  2. >>If you can work the system, you work the system. You should know about such things.
    >>The homeless and the poor excell in working the system as well.

I see now. It is all about how well you can “work the system” or how much of an unfair share you can extract from this country while stiffing everyone else. This is not the kind of just society that I want my children to grow up in. I think we can do better than that.
