Back again. Afternoon OT not so much ROFL as Morning OT.
So I went back and re-read chicken’s 10:10am post cause I needed a laugh: “The lesser-educated don’t understand what I talk about, the poor can’t afford to hear what I talk about, and the mentally ill don’t care what I talk about. Now, who else can I offend?” Thanks chicken.
bxgrl and etson, I got my Health Net “we published your social security number and all your private health care information from 2002-2007 online” letter yesterday.
Slopey, clearly we need to write Mr. B a cease & desist letter; the firm may also want to consider taking out an ad for $300 in the directory. >>>>>
the whole concept of marriage is just wrong on so many levels. married people (gay or straight) should not be allowed to get any kind of tax breaks or special treatment. it’s barfworthy. you come into this world alone and you leave this world alone. you do not attach yourself to another human being of this planet and leech off each other’s money, insurance, etc etc. god, money, law, sex, and benefits should NEVER EVER be mixed and one day when society wakes up and sees that homo sapiens will FINALLY evolve, but i won’t be holding my breath.
Blowfish,
Non-profits lobby for all kinds of stuff all the time. 501 c3 exempt organizations cannot lobby directly for legislation ro endorse candidates etc, 501c4 exempt organizations can.
blowfish- wasn’t there complaints made to the IRS after the 2004 election and they were looking into the role of churches, especially those who made their denomination rolls available to the GOP (or were at least asked to but I think most refused to go that far)?

Etson, blowfish- there isn’t a special religious designation? Religious organizations fall under 501(c)(3)?
Etson: churches are (c)(3)s
bxgirl- that does sound familiar now that you mention it
Biff- i’m doing it again! At one point, I garnered the nickname Captain Buzzkill…no worries, off to lunch now

I think we might need to partition the Open Thread into a serious OT and an OT for true BS’ing.
i mean, tax code already says the can’t be partisan
