“also breast feeding on the train can spread disease, like if the milk squirts on someone who has an open cut or sore and the person breastfeeding has a disease, it can spread.”
WOW. Talk about taking it to a whole ‘nother level.
Clearly Rob’s been very busy reading the NE Journal of Medicine.
True etson- but it shows the murky relationships between Church and State. What I should have said is that religious organizations that try to get legislation passed that impinges the rights of others and denies them full equality should pay taxes- just like gay people and women have to pay taxes even if they don’t have equal rights.
Equal rights such as given in the Constitution- whether specifically or by intent- are not up for discussion or voter referendum and religious groups that push referendums to deny them must pay taxes.

Thanks for the segue, *cranky robert*. That brings me to my next subway etiquette question. Hypothetically, were one seated opposite a really, really hot guy on the train, would it be inappropriate to (a) leer at him from Borough Hall to Grand Central; and second, take pictures of him with your BlackBerry?
“Yes, but we were talking about the issue of tax exemption in general, and an institution can be “both partisan and tax exempt””.

c’mon etson, was writing shorthand, ignoring little exceptions– you now how big the tax code, no need to talk about irrelevant bits.
churches, unlike (c)(4)s, enjoy a lot of tax advantages, in exchange for being ‘non-partisan’. for eg, contributors can deduct contributions, etc. so i think the tax thing is a big issue.
Yeah, that’s not cool. Not denying your right just asking that you not abuse it. Nothing wrong with a little breast feeding etiquette.
It’s like the goth and punk kids who are obviously dressing for effect because they want/need to garner attention but, the second anyone looks at them they glare back as though how dare you look at me, what’s wrong with you?!?!?
CGar, I furtively snapped a pic of a guy on the subway once.
Very, very hot Asian hipster despite the multiple oxymorons.
