THL, I’ve got a story for you. So some years ago, the UPS guy comes to the door at my friend’s house where I am working on a project. He has a package for the people that live there and I sign for it — not unusual.
This is before the electronic signature thingy, it’s paper. I sign next to where the UPS guy tells me to sign.
Hours later, I turn up at my parent’s house nearby. Mom tells me that a different neighbor is looking for me. I go over and ring their bell.
Mr. Schmuckyschmuckhead [bear with me, why I’m calling him this will become clear in a moment] answers the door. Mr. Schmuckyschmuckhead says to me: “You signed for a package for us today, do you have it?”. I say, “No, I’m sorry, I only signed for a package for the other neighbor across the street”. “No”, Mr. Schmuckyschmuckhead says, “You signed for it and you should give it to me”. I repeat myself, and suggest that there has been some kind of mistake. He starts to get outraged and [this is the good part!] says, “That package has Christmas presents for my children from their grandmother, how dare you not give me that package that you signed for!!!”.
Somehow I managed not to say to Mr. Schmuckyschmuckhead “Kiss my ass m*therf*cker, why the f*ck would I steal your kids holiday gifts from Gramma”. Instead, I politely, yet firmly suggested that he take it up with the UPS guy.
Days later the UPS guy sorted it out, but I never got an apology from Mr. Schmuckyschmuckhead, who, as it turns out, now lives on my block. I glare at him every single chance I get.
