  1. CGar- My husband is still unloading his Transformers Collection. One silly little one he sold this weekend went for the ‘buy it now price’ of $75 dollars. That’s crazy!

Once he finishes with these it’s on to the GI Joes.

  2. You said it, Kens. I didn’t think there was anyone on EARTH at all similar to Rob, much less someone who agrees with him “just about all of the time.” It’s almost too much to fully comprehend.

  3. I think we are seeing divine intervention in action here.

Here is what Rob wrote this morning:

“so i had an intervention last night 🙁 my roommate and his boyfriend invited me out for a drink and pizza and said they are concerned that i spend too much time in my room alone and that i need to go out more. i guess that’s like telling someone they need to get a life hahah. soooo how does one go about getting one of those btw?”

Well Rob, here is your new friend/fan/life on that Ratner thread. Remember what the Romans used to say: “Carpe Diem” (Seize the day!).

  4. LOL, Kens.

benson, I come from a family of collectors, and my siblings and I, who have our own collections started by our relatives, inherited even more collections. Too much stuff. So I kept my favorite collections (eg, Matchbox cars), or the favorite pieces in my favorite collections (eg, only my favorite antique toy banks), and sold off the rest. I still have too much stuff, most inherited rather than collected, and it’s all really beautiful, but, for all the reasons you said, I just don’t want to have to deal with it anymore. And, at the moment, I’m paying to store a ton of this stuff, which is absurd!! I anticipate unloading more when I move again in the next year or so.

  5. I have the collector gene that I fight vigorously.

My downfall is mid century modern dinner/serverware. Russel Wright, Eva Zeisel, Ben Seibel, etc, etc, etc. I literally have 6 complete dinner services for 12. It’s a sickness but, I haven’t bought anything new since we got the house so that’s quite the accomplishment!

I also collect rare gemstones but at least they take up very little space and are limited in nature so that’s not impeding my lifestyle any. Those come to me slowly. Very unlike the china and pottery.
