Avalon way to Tillary Street
Avalon lon, way to go.
Avalon way to Tillary Street
To the sweetest building I know.
Goodbye Windsor Terrace,
Farewell Bensonhurst,
Avalon lon way to Tillary Street,
But my condo lies there.
“Is it illegal for a landlord to advertise a rental and specify “no shares” ??”
If you think about it, why should it be? If Mr/Ms Potential Renter doesn’t like the fact they you can’t share the prospective apartment, they can simply opt not to take the place. There are other apartments that will accept shares. At least this landlord makes it clear right up front. I also don’t see why any landlord should be compelled or required to accept shares. I don’t think a decision not to accept shares is in any way akin to discriminating against a potential tenant based on race, religion, etc.
Benson, like I said, I’m a total cynic. Take for example the Mucinex commercials. They gross me out to no end. At the end of my gangster flu that would not let go, the doc recommended I get some. (mucinex…not booty!) I refused for the simple fact that I hate their ever-present and gross commercials. I mean really, talking hockers? EEEEEWWWWWW! I guess commercials work the opposite way for me. But, to your point, everytime I see a Mucinex commercial, it reinforces to me that I will never buy it no matter what.
“Praying to g*d that I get through this without too many horrifying stories about who/how I was or what I did in HS.”
Cobble, you just better hope none of us shows up at your reunion to share “horrifying stories” about your life on the OT. “Oh, you knew Cobble in High School, really. Well, nowadays she posts stories online about Hanging Chad and having sausage & clams for breakfast.”
word – had never seen that stipulation before but seems common on listings for 3brs in park slope.

If I was a LL I might prefer renting as a “share.” Presuming it was young or youngish people more likely their parents would pick up the rent if any are out of work or can’t pay their rent for any reason. You could even get the parents to co-sign the lease so they would be liable.
Seems these “no share” LL’s have more of a quality-of-life issue w/ noise and young people than any worry of not being paid rent. I’d care more about getting my rent!
