  1. “11217, you’re dodging my question about coming out with us (no homo) (well, actually, homo, but no homo)”

Only if I can sit next to stevieb. 🙂

I can’t commit. Honestly, with people like Minard, stevieb/bbb on my case (and do it with such hatred and contempt) I am concerned about meeting up in person.

  2. Bxgrl;

The debate over gloabl warming is not a disagreement about some scientific principles. There are no fundamental scientific principles at stake. The deabte is over the results of scientific modelling, which is a WHOLE other animal.

This modelling involves literally 10’s of thousands of line of computer code, massive amounts of data, and hundreds of modelling assumptions. As such, it is highly susceptible to error.

I am not disparaging the work of any scientist who is doing research in this field. As I said above, it may turn out that there is indeed global warming. What I am against are those who want to politicize the debate, and want to declare it “closed”. Anyone who talks like that is not acting in the scientific method.

  3. dibs,
I hope your right, but that doesn’t mitigate the fact that as our intergovermental holdings come do, and our debt service grows, the money to hand out to our seniors, all 70 million baby boomers, soon runs out.
    That’s not good.

  4. What if I told you guys that I could potentially arrange for free tequilla for your next gathering?

A friend of mine is part owner and a salesmen for a start-up tequilla company. He has been closing some accounts in Brooklyn and will be working with the restaurants to do some tequilla tastings. It sounds like he could reach a diverse group of heavy drinkers here!

The catch is that the event would have to be at a restaurant or bar carrying his product.

  5. I can’t believe people are criticizing Al Gore for making money. He is also doing something he truly believes in and most sane people would consider it a good cause. Improving the planet is bad…HOW?

Unlike the Rush Limbaugh’s Glen Beck’s, (I’ll add Keith Olberman for you Legion)’s of the world who aren’t actually responsible for getting anyone elected but make GOBS of money by telling damaging untruths about the world…on purpose!

At least Al Gore truly believes what he says. Same can not be said of the windbags I mentioned above…they say it for one thing and one thing only…money (and ratings).

  6. “I also think that the new place, The Vanderbilt wouldn’t be a bad place for a meet-up, but you would probably want to check with them first…

The drinks were delicious and they had a nice front bar space which would easily accommodate like 20 people…”

11217, you’re dodging my question about coming out with us (no homo) (well, actually, homo, but no homo)

  7. “they had a nice front bar space which would easily accommodate like 20 people…”

Given we typically get 30-35 people and that doesn’t include others that are at the bar that night, we need a place that holds much more.

    Think BIG!

  8. legion, it’s refreshing to see you and so many others suddenly worried about the deficit, when they didn’t seem to care for eight years. Actually it’s a good thing we have one now else things would be worse.
