  1. benson- I do understand that. But scientific modelling has its limits and is not 100% . It’s a tool. I do agree that people use the issue politically, and that is the case on both sides of the fence. But get a politician involved and you can kiss intelligent discourse out the door. If we banned politicians we could save the world from the pollution of all that hot air.

Legion- no one can debate a 6 month old fetus is a child. We can debate at what point a dividing cell should be considered a life in the sense of a human life. I’m sure we’ll get ito semantics but I do mean why should a fertilized egg at the moment of conception suddenly claim the same rights as a fully formed fetus/child? One is actual, the other is potential.

  2. I get what you are saying about the modeling too, but who wants to take the chance? The planet could be dying as we speak. (obviously I know who wants to take the chance…) I know some will take me for a crazy green hippy for even suggesting it, but it’s possible. Certainly a lot of the “modeling” has been showing things getting progressively worse and moving at a faster clip. I just think when we are talking about our ONE AND ONLY PLANET, it would be a good idea to be better safe than sorry. No?

Maybe some of this “modeling” would have been helpful before we invaded Iraq…?
