  1. “(pitiful really)provisions like not denying coverage for an existing condition”

There’s nothing pitiful about that as it can literally cost millions of dollars – and mean the difference between life or death – to an ill person on the wrong side of denial for a pre-existing condition.

Also, it somewhat disingenuous to assert that a person would be “required by law not to fire your insurance company.” In reality, under the plan, everyone will be required to have health insurance. If a person has a particular insurance plan he/she likes, they keep it. But if he/she doesn’t have insurance because they can’t afford it or their job does not offer it, there will be an alternative, including (apparently) a government run- and financed option.

  2. dave- last year i bought a wonderful old souvenir spoon of the Brooklyn Bridge as an Xmas gift for the 5 x QOTD, Oft quoted and now writer of 2 weekly columns Montrose Morris (I sing soprano in the Amen choir).

  3. The poll workers at the church on Montague and Clinton where I voted were the dumbest group of pollsters I’ve ever encountered, and that says something. Between them and those archaic machines, I don’t have much confidence in the integrity of the system.

The only ones that seem to have any kind of knowledge or care for their work are the elderly poll workers. Once they’re gone our cats might very well be able to vote…

  4. rob,
you can ask your doctor’s office for samples. most doctor’s offices have a closet just for drug samples that they get for free when the drug reps detail them about their products. used to be, a doctor could get baseball tickets right on the 1st base line or a palm pilot, now all doctors can get is sample meds. ask your doctor, or better yet, his office manager, they know where to look.

  5. Diet of Worms was exactly what i thought of :). Probably the only thing I remember from European history.

My cats and I voted. I can’t speak for my sibs in fur but Snappy- you’re gonna win this thing!
