“we could cede our role as primary advocate for democracy around the globe, then what would you get?”
Legion, do you really think the true reason behind all of the US invasions throughout the last 60 years was to advocate democracy? I think that is the last thing the US government has cared about.
ENY,
hey, we didn’t ask for 9/11, but that cost us about a trillion to our economy.

nobody said you couldn’t maintain our nation’s sovereignty and still cover those without healthcare;
1. tort reform
2. malpractice insurance reform
3. medical insurance reform
4. doctor adjucation courts- for bad doctors
5. interstate competition for healthcare insurance
6. stricter oversight for medicare fraud.
7. stricter oversight for madicaid fraud.
8. tax incentives for health savings accounts,
I could go on,
you could do this without adding 1 trillion to our deficit.
“i miss the throwback thread of the day. why no more?”
Randi, I only had a handful of them and think I’ve posted them all. Mr. B needs to have a better search tool that would help find old threads based on certain key words. Of course, if one entered the word “Asshat”, 4,000 matching threads would come up.
Funny, I didn’t hear you bringing up the cost of the wars in Iraq or Afghanistan, Legion. Maybe I missed that. Anyway, if we can spend that much to kill people in another country, we can certainly spend it to ensure ill people in this country have access to affordable healthcare.

As a republican, this is one of the few things I agree with the people to the Left of me.

biff- maybe there should be a “OT six months later” to go along with the house of the day 6 months later?
“At least we don’t have to contend with hanging chads”
“Has anyone ever had to deal with hanging chads?
Or a hung Chad?
Cobble, care to comment?”
My chad is, in fact, hung. But I never leave him hanging….
[cripes! CANNOT believe I’m saying this stuff today!]
I thought the black cowboys story was a feature on Emmett Smith, Michael Irvin and Tony Dorsett.

Well said, ENY.
Interesting stuff from CNN.com on the black cowboys in the Brooklyn-Queens border (near “The Hole”).
