tybur6 — I hear you. I’m ready to do just that, but my wife has had the same e-mail account for over 10 years and doesn’t want to just give up on it.
Also, it would be easier to transition to a new e-mail address while still having access to the old one. The old one is linked to checking account, savings account, brokerage account, credit card accounts, and it is the only way many old friends have of getting in touch with me.
Some places make it pretty easy to change your e-mail address, but other places make it a pain in the ass. So many places use your e-mail as your login that you pretty much *can’t* keep your current account with them if you change e-mail.
God I hate time warner so much. This was on top of taking 3 weeks to do the installation because they kept going to Williamsburg instead of Park Slope (this is my punishment for moving from a named street to a numbered street).
Oh, and this morning on the phone, when I gave my address, the customer service rep said to me:
NSR – They must’ve changed just recently – a friend of mine used it about a month ago & got through. Google “Talk to a human phone numbers” – there are a lot of different ones.
He’s a light skinned Spanish-speaking gentleman. He has another guy on the platform thingy with him. He’s got a thick moustache and a construction hat and flannel shirt…reminiscent of the Village People, but more masculine. I think you wouldn’t mind getting wiped by his squeegee.
Northsloperenter… you should just use a Gmail account or something similar. Cable and telephone company e-mail accounts suck and if you move you have to start all over again. Just use the internet service and forget about the rest of their “services” — they’re all crap and unsupported.
NSR – That’s fantastic!!!

Ha ha ha ha ha haha.
