Benson, I was at a wedding in the summer and one of the guys at our table has an MBA from MIT and works as an analyst for Metropolitan Opera. I asked him why there when he can be at a financial institution making “good” money. Let me tell ya…..he aint crying about his income.
jessi, i never got my license! yeah, im one of those. it used to be embarrassing, but now apparently it’s cool to not drive, not having a license isnt such a big deal. i wouldnt be good behind the wheel anyway, i can barely roller skate.
ugh 500,000 a year for a stagehand? i guess THOSE are the “creative professionals” all these million dollar condos target? grrr
okay whatever, i decided to try and be less grouchy for now on.
“I’m in the wrong business too Kens – I read in the NYDN today that the head stagehand at the Carnegie Hall got paid $500K last year. The carpenter got a paltry $400K. ”
Remember this fact the next time one of these cultural institutions try to hit you up for a donation. Many of these institutions, plus many universities, seem to believe that controlling costs is beneath them – something that only lower forms of species like businessmen deal with.

Benson, only suckers and/or rich folks contribute to these fancy institutions.
Yes, get rid of the unions, everyone but the yuppies should be living check to check…
I’m sure there were union issues involved with carpenters & electricians at Carnegie Hall.

Rob, you can go to Iceland for 3 nights including airfare for around $380 (5 hours from JFK)
Ditto, aren’t you a lawyer of some sort? Maybe Carnegie Hall needs legal counsel and willing to cough up some money for a good one.
