I think some places make people wait in line so it looks like they are more important or exclusive than they really are. The wanna-be-hipsters see a line and figure if people wait to get in the place must be good (not!).
rob…Biff and I were chatting and were thinking about March. I said march 20 because that would be Obama’s first sixty days and we could have a thread about it before the party with lots of racism and hate spewed all over and then we could all get drunk together that night.
mopar, come on. If he brought the bouncer two barbie dolls do you think they might mistake him for beint hetero??? LOL
BAck in the day I can remeber being out with two friends and we were pretty wasted and we were thrown out by the doorman before we got in. I could never figure out why. Of course there’s always another bar with lower standards.
And what the HELL is with this “waiting in line” to get in a bar here sometimes in NYC??? This is pure ridiculousness. When I used to live on the UES, Townhouse would have a line outside at 10:00 to get in. Oscar Wilde (now O.W.) is across the street…no line, better looking crowd.
Mopar, trust me, they know if the man is gay. They don’t even let the straight ones in. I’ve seen countless straight guys get turned away. It was the unwritten rule there.
Anyone know where a good hat can be found for women (not the Aretha Franklin type, but more masculine or andro looking) in larger sizes?
Thanks for this info!! I bought my fedora in JJ – I didn’t know about Worth and Worth. I’m thinking about buying a straw hat for the summer, so your tip is timely.
I think I look pretty snazzy in my fine top coat (imported from Italy) and fedora, if I do have to say so myself.
My role model is my immigrant grandfather from Italy. Even though he was an ordinary cobbler, he looked so dignified in the way he dressed and carried himself.

is there some sort of significance for march 20th for the next meetup? is that the first day or spring?
*rob*
Rob, is Caddyshack a lesbian bar? They have no way of knowing you’re gay. They probably think you’re there to hit on the women, seriously.
Worth & worth is THE BEST place for a hat. Real ‘old school”
