  1. In my experience all tortoise shell and calico cats are female. I’ve seen on boy who had a calico-ish patch on him but it was more or less just a patch with orange and two gray stripes in a ptach on a black cat so I’m not sure if he even fully qualified.

It’s funny Laurie (IBKC) hasn’t revealed the name of the tortie girl yet.

You give your cats the greatest names.

  2. THL: i almost positive that is an illegal form of discrimination. state law controls marriage licenses, but that are federal laws that prevent discriminatory state laws for certain protected classes– i think its arguable a 14th amendment case…sorry this is vague….

CG: i don’t usually lurk on the OT, because the one other time I opened it, it felt like arriving really late to a party and discovering everyone had dropped acid hours ago

  3. “where are 11217, fsrg, Nomi and DIBS to defend wall street crooks?”

Chances are DIBS is having a Friday nooner while the others are very infrequent visitors to the OT. You might want to try the Open House Picks or similar thread.

“Kens, I bet good $$$ Biff would still pick BK Heights if given 2nd shot to buy something”

Probably, but would heavily consider Park Slope and certain blocks in Fort Greene.

  4. wasder, it was great catching up with you last night. As predicted, I can’t remember the author’s name you were recommending. Is it David Petruzzi? I thought it was David Fran . . . something, but the Google isn’t helping at all with this.

  5. Snappy, we just reopened the space under our back stoop (just a small storage area) since the weather is getting colder. It’s got a plywood door and a small flap in it. My guess is one of the previous owners used it as a dog house. We keep a plastic bin in there with a moving blanket inside so our residents momma and two little girls can snuggle in for warmth.

We keep it closed up all summer since we don’t want the possums and raccoons taking up residence.

Last winter we had Sofia and PawPaw under there the whole winter (now they live inside with us). Momma cat had disappeared with her newest batch of kittens that winter so she never used it. Now she’s back with these two new girls and we trying to get her to make use of it. Yesterday in the ice cold rain the 3 of them huddled under a small bush soaking wet and cold. Broker my heart. I put wet food on a plate and trying to coax her under there but nothing. The one girl Maxine went under ate all the food and then returned right back to where mummy and Zora were laying down. Killed me. So this weekend I think they’ll be served all of their meals under there until they catch on. Stupid soggy kitties.

  6. Yeah M4L – it’s a kids book, but it’s directed by Spike Jonze and the score/soundtrack was done by Karen O of the YYYeahs – so it sounds like it could be one of those films that both kids and adults can enjoy
