it would be nice if the kid wasn’t in the balloon when it went up. the sibling saw the kid by the gate or go in, but there seems to have been a time gap from that point to when the balloon got free. hopefully it’s something like the kid saw the balloon go up and was scared to get in trouble so is hiding in the backyard or something.
If the kid did fall out, I have mixed emotions towards the parents. How on earth could they let this happen yet I can’t imagine having to deal with the death of a child, let alone being the one responsible for it.

Had the authorities been keeping an eye on the balloon from the start? Would they have seen him fall out?

No definitve word on the kid yet. The balloon was in the air for over 2 hours.
Hopefully he is just farting around somewhere in the neighborhood and was never in the balloon in the first place.
