blue ribbon any of them are always good. and if you’re going to drink a lot of wine and have a solid meal to accompany, landmarc is good then off to nearby brandy library for drinks afterwards. there’s a night!
oh geez, and of course the danny meyer classics! eleven madison park! do it! do it! (gram tavern and un sq caf are solid standbys as well in the DM empire). gotham bar and grill is always awesome too. too many great place. i hear that per se is doing a la carte now as well, which could be nice.
“Muffet, oooh-oooh-oooh,
Didn’t think you’d ever buy
If I’m not back again to blog tomorrow
Comment on, comment on, as if pricing doesn’t matter”
Best part of that song.
Snark, remember us in your coming days of glory and fame.
brownjokester, Are you an old name popping up in a ‘new suit’? If so, could you revert to your old/familiar name for a week or so? I think it would help our situation here.
Btw, I LOVE that Snarky post. It is an absolute GEM.
lower east i like public – good food, a bit scenester but lots of nice eye candy. can be a wee hectic but fun for a bight night out. for more mellow, peasant is nearby, much more rustic, very hearty italian food, not as many prettys as public but saw a famous newscaster last time there.
chelsea – love the red cat and cookshop. perry street is good too. both are lively and have great food.
west village – mas farmhouse! pricey but quite spectacular. blue hill, also very awesome, and a nice civilized night out in the heart of crazytown. Po and market table and the little owl are also great though more sceney and harder to score a table. i also love mary’s fish camp and pearl oyster bar but sounds like you want something a little more special occasiony for tonight?
hmmmmm. trying to rack my brain for other favorites.

bj, you’ve been lurking awhile. Yes, a classic.
CGar,
I tend to know more uptown places, which may not be the best for you. Anyway I like Telepan on 69th and Compass on 70th.
