  1. I make a remark about grape leaves and that’s condescending??? The stenciling was FUGLY, whether it was grape leaves or not was not the issue. I don’t think it gets more light hearted than a remark about wall decor with an attached Italian accent.

  2. i think benson’s point is that it always comes across that it’s totally okay to mock some ethnicities, but not others. in a sense, i sort of agree with him. i also am a firm believer that any can mock anything or anyone for whatever reason they want and people can think, say, and feel what they want about people and various groups. for instance, i find the french vile and disgustingly rude people. we all have our certain prejudices. but it seems like some are more allowed to be expressed than others.

    eta – sorry to any frenchies that might be reading this,*hugs*.

  3. DIBS;

    I’m 52 and have been around for a while. I can well tell the difference between light-hearted parody (which I enjoy) and condescension.

    My memo still stands to you and a bunch of others: go F%*k yourself.

    PS:M4L, you are correct, Oslo is incredibly expensive. I just paid $14 for a Manhattan at a dive.
