“You and Arkady and others really do engage in a lot of ad hominem conservative bashing without really demonstrating an understanding of the issues or an appreciation for the depth of a lot of political debate.”
Them’s fightin’ words lechacal.
You’re talking to people that are very well read, intelligent and up on the issues on both sides of the aisle. This statement exemplifies a typical right wing response to me. You fail to recognize that we do, in fact, demonstrate an understanding of the issues and an appreciation for the depth of A LOT of political debate. Your statement exemplifies the dismissive qualities of the debate from the RIGHT. We don’t agree with you, hence we must not understand the issues or appreciate the finer points of the debate. You’ve just written yourself off for not listening or trying to actually engage and converse.
That’s fair, but to me it just seems qualitatively different when it’s educated white women talking about Sarah. It’s just, so fierce and from the gut, not just the usual distaste.
I think a lot of people projected themselves onto to these 2 girls and their father. I don’t find it a crime that he wanted them to have a great place to live and I don’t see why anyone else should. Some of the pronouncements about these women were amazing. Like any of us even know them? as I said- one woman became a teacher. I respect her for that and So I figure her dad must have raised her with some good priorities.
IJ- Palin came out swinging with quite a lot of vitriol of her own. Insults, racist slams, insulting anyone who wasn’t for McCain as being un-American.What goes around, comes around.

DH – My favorite ice cream is rum raisin. What’s yours?
Cobble, not too different from innocent “notes” comment that got me the ridiculous stalking accusation.
So – does anyone want to discuss ANYTHING else besides politics? I’m actually tempted into doing work right now.

Olympia Snowe is a moderate. Susan Collins is more conservative. (I’m from Maine).
