  1. Right! Yes, I was toying with the idea of inviting some ‘stoner ladies over here for a little brunch. I’ll email you, give me a couple dates to work with. The 12th is out, we have to go to NJ for a friend’s 50th! [E-gads!]

  2. I feel similarly, the most visible female voices for the Republicans seem to be from the FAR FAR right. I can’t relate to them at all. They are generally vindictive, insulting, shallow and manipulative. They lack substance and the ability to think deeply.

I just can’t take Coulter, Ingraham and Bachman seriously. They aren’t serious people. They are ‘personas’. I think of them like info-mercials. They’re quasi-entertainment for the right. They’re cartoon-ish. And very little if anything of real substance comes from any interaction with them. That said, Ingraham does have great legs. ; )

The more moderate Republicans that I have listed seem to be able to communicate ideas without villifying the left, and seem to me to be thinking people. And some of them are with merit. And while it would take a lot for me to vote for a Rep, I have done it once. Not that I’m proud of it, but it was the best choice at that time.

  3. “And the powers that be definitely think ahead. There are a lot of serious, intelligent people who have put real thought into our nuclear strategy over the years.”

I hope and pray you’re right.I’m sure you’re right but as we’ve seen, it isn’t always the most intelligent or serious people who make the final decisions.

I actually find the history of nuclear weapons fascinating (and terrible at the same time). One of my cousins used to work for Albert Einstein and my mother had a photo of the atomic test on Bikini Atoll taken by him. I know he died of cancer- I wonder if it was from watching the tests?

  4. benson- let me be clear. There are many Republican women I do not find to be kooks. And many Republican men. The ones who raise my ire are the ones who , as DH put it, vilify. Those cut from the same cloth as Ann Coulter (and believe me, I don’t even put Palin in that league).

Olympia Snow I do like. But the likes of Michelle Malkin, Coulter, Laura Ingraham,Bachmann? They are the most visible face of the women of the Right and I don’t believe they are a fair representation of it.

I understand with what DH is saying and mostly agree- but I have to qualify that with the fact some people believe G-d is on their side and that gives them license to do whatever they want. That’s their justification- and its been used a thousand times in history. Not to invoke Godwin, but Hitler thought he was doing good for Germany too.
