What, maybe we’re getting lucky and some of these guys decided to do the right thing and kill themselves. So far, it’s just the Europeans who hold themselves to high ethical standards, I’m afraid.

MM…cellars don’t usually get that cold, even against the outer walls which, after 3′ below grade are, by definition, below the frost line. Usually the fact that nobody insulates their pipes or ducts coming from the furnace keeps the basement rather warm. Hmmm, weird.
