Wherever people have water pipes that are in danger of low temperatures they need to keep the water running through the faucets. Just a minute stream usually at the highest point in the house usually does the trick. The products sold to wrap your pipes with an electric heat tape work extremely well too.
A pipe burst in my laundry room, flooding my basement. 4″ of water in some places, water, water, water. A waterfall of water running down the side of my foundation.

Plumber coming sometime today, water is off, wet vac and trash bags all day.
The sainted tenant and I spent a lot of time moving my extensive fabric stash to the front of my basement. Not too much got wet, as I have long learned to keep as much as possible in plastic, and off the ground.

Dave,
I always leave my Christmas Decorations up through the twelve days which begin December 26 and include Epiphany on January 6.
That’s just me though.
