cmu- my mother smoked- as did many of my relatives. Smoke stinks and when you smoke around other people you are forcing a disgusting habit on everyone around you. I repeat- don’t put word in my mouth. You love to brag about being green- well tell me how you can talk so much about being green and the environment yet blow off someone complaining about breathing in second hand cigarette smoke? I guess you don’t get the irony in that? So don’t take M4L to task for his stance.

Wonton, the Chicken has spoken and he concurs with M4L. BTW, the Chicken is the supreme court so no more appeals unless you want to do so face to face this Thurs over drinks.

Hey, when it comes to Cantonese romanization, I am the Supreme Court, and you guys are the anarchists!

I spent one and a half years sitting in a hot room at Chinese University being forced to memorize by rote the “official” roman orthograpies of Cantonese. My Cantonese teachers knew exactly how best to punish slackers–they had advanced degrees in student humiliation techniques.

Many of my fellow students fled the classroom in tears during the semester. I am not kidding.

I used to argue with them that romanization is utterly useless unless you’re a Westerner learning Cantonese. They just smiled, and took one point off every time I misspelled “go” as “gor”…..

I can’t get to Jalopy enough. Jeff and Lynette are geniuses. We should have a b’stoner hoedown there one night! There’s a bar next door with a pool table too. Haven’t been to hear Tony Scherr play yet but one of my guitar teachers plays with 2 different bluegrass bands so I go whenever he’s there.

Going out in the heat…what’s that saying about Mad dogs and Englishmen? Ah well, it has to be done!

My sentiments exactly, it’s not worth the screen/air time/ink or mental energy. Just another way of saying they don’t want a Black man to be our President. EF ’em. Too bad. They voted, they lost. Sour grapes.
