  1. I think outlawing alcohol was an exercise in futility, if I remember the history of Prohibition. I think the same would happen for smoking- the idea is that people should take responsibility for what they do if they smoke or drink. I have never understood why drunk drivers basically get a pass after they cause a fatal accident. You know driving is dangerous business. There are no drunk driving accidents. they are drunk driving murders.

I don’t think smoking should be outlawed but because it is so intrusive, nonsmokers shouldn’t have to deal with it.

  2. i don’t know, i think we’re headed for legalization within our lifetime. Enforcement is much looser than it used to be… just last week I smoked a joint walking down smith street (11pm) and then there was the b’stoner gathering (those of us who participated can hopefully recall where we were) and also standing outside a restaurant recently with friends who were smoking cigs I toked up (8pm). Granted I wouldn’t have done it in front of a cop but NO ONE even looked twice.

  3. “Have you ever seen that series…Illegal Drugs and How They Became Illegal? It’s very interesting. ”

I think I saw that snappy.

I think that was where i heard that cocaine was origninally criminalized because they thought it gave black people superhuman powers (or something similarlly idiotic)

  4. I don’t smoke. I don’t like 2nd hand smoke. but doesn’t mean I go around imposing on people. This is a FREE country and I’m free to have an opinion. “An opinion” is all mine. when one imposes on others than it’s not an opinion anymore, it’s “getting into someone’s business”

I’m for legalized weed even though I dont smoke it. Wonder if Marlboro would dominate that market too

  5. “weed is illegal? are you sure about that?”

weed has been decriminalized in most states if you are in possession of under an ounce.

if you get stopped by a cop in nyc and they try to do the whole ‘stop and frisk’ thing – they cannot arrest you for possessing MJ – only write you a ticket for a violation.

they also can’t go into your pockets, just pat you down to check for weapons.

  6. There used to be a product for stomach cramps called Peragoric…..it contained opium. It was great. My grandmother used to give it to us for stomach cramps. When it was outlawed in New York she’d get it in Vermont.

  7. Yes, I previously thought the whole cocaine in Coca Cola was an urban legend, then when I saw that series I was like, DAMN! And was it heroin that used to be sold in Sears catalogs?

  8. Oh, Bxgirl, while I’m thinking about it, I wanted to tell you and MM that Petland Discounts does a program similar to Petco’s Luv My Pet vaccination clinic and I believe it’s slightly cheaper. You should check it out.

(sorry to bring up cats…back to our regularly scheduled programming!)
