I got frisked once while visiting family of my roommate in the projects in the south bronx (due east of yankee stadium, right next to concourse village)

I wasn’t carrying anything – but I know my rights, and I like messing with overambitious rookie cops.

“Enforcement is much looser than it used to be… just last week I smoked a joint walking down smith street (11pm) and then there was the b’stoner gathering (those of us who participated can hopefully recall where we were) ”

Wait – you mean people were doing drugs at the last gathering!? **gasp**

I have no real frame of reference regarding enforcement loosening. I’ve gotten caught twice smoking a blunt in public – first time the cop just had me clip it and gave me a warning. The 2nd time i got an open container ticket and the cop confiscated my sh*t – which he probably smoked in his car.

I read somewhere there is a huge disparity in the country in arrests re: pot – something like 80% of the non criminal arrests made are of black people, when 70% of smokers are white people.

For the record, both of the po po that stopped me were black.
