Where in LG are you, denton. I always vacationed there as a kid. Also used to camp on one of the islands with friends. LG is really beautiful. Only the lakes region of NH can compare to it. I haven’t been there since 1978 and suspect it has changed unimaginably.
Back then there used to be a few great bars on the water. We’d go way up the east side to one called LeRoy’s.
upstate is not as monolithic as some posters are saying. There are pockets of real affluence in the vacation areas of the state, especially around Lake George and Lake Placid. And opportunities there now as well.
I get $2500-$3000 a week in the summer for my property in LG, and this year was as good as any and better than some.
Albany is not bad either as it has both the guvment and a number of universities to give it stability.
Don’t forget the areas around state prisons, which are the largest employers in many areas. They provide a lot of rentals, I have a friend with a few properties in Whitehall, she has them all rented to corrections types and she is happy with her tenants. ANd unlike rental property in NYC, these are cash-flow positive from the beginning.
the third + bond thread (week 96) is even more painful than ever! and the claim they have people calling about it for purchase and it’s not even built yet? :-/
MM, yes, definitely get the rest of the tribe checked out. The vet told me that the worms are extremely contagious so his little buddies likely have them as well. Do you take them to the clinic at Petco run by LuvMyPet?
Pretty close to blogicide, Kens. NO, won’t travel on that weekend with the holiday. Do you have any idea what the traffic is like going onto and coming off the Cape on a weekend??? But thanks anyway.
Snappy, poor Tid, he didn’t have any of those symptoms here. I hope he’s better, and I’m getting some worm medicine (last time mentioning the w word) for my horde, because if he has them, they certainly do, too.
Dave, you’re committing blogicide for 2 weeks or you’ll be posting from P-Town? Wanna come down to Providence on Sept 5th and catch dinner and Waterfire? I’ll be down in Warwick for the long weekend.
Legion, Bxgrl is upstate visiting a terminally ill relative, perhaps for the last time. I don’t think today’s the day for frivolous discussions about the health care system.
And I’m going back to my previously held preference to not comment on religion and politics. What I said yesterday has proven true, nothing gets accomplished except the mutual wondering of how other people could possibly be so dense. I’m not going to change your mind, and you are not going to change mine.

No idea how Cape is during the weekends but I am guessing total torture. I figured I’ll offer anyways just in case.
