bxgirl, she fools a lot of people… she is a light-skinned Latina from Colombia who can and does read Borges and Marquez in the native tongue. She has just made her hair more like it was back in the day, check it out at the next meeting 🙂
dibs, I don’t watch TV, but I’ll have to look her up. Generally, my type runs to Latinas, Brazilians, and dark haired-women in general, but there was something about her 🙂
snappy, as far as the recession, I agree with those who say that it is over. However that doesn’t mean I think that unemployment will drop substantially and quickly. For that something needs to happen and I can’t figure out what that might be. Green jobs? Maybe…
I’ve felt quite fortunate, in fact, and I’m very much aware of it and that and that many others are less fortunate. I’m partners in a business that has not been affected much (we do diagnostic and engineering services in the big office buildings) and my wife is in health care.
As to my personal spending habits, since we are OK, we have tried to maintain them. If no one spends, then a recession becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. We’ve tried to focus more on how and where we spend, particularly by making sure we patronize small and local businesses.
There’s a saying, ‘don’t fight the Fed’, and it applies. Don’t ignore what the markets are saying either.
I’d spend $200. Isn’t that the going rate on Craigslist?
