OMG BROWNSTONER! HOW COULD YOU NOT TELL US THAT JAMES FRANCO AND JAVIER BARDEM WERE ON SMITH STREET FILMING A MOVIE LAST FRIDAY?
I just found out, 4 days too late. 🙁 We need heads up on this kind of thing. I totally would’ve taken the day off work to oogle those two. le sigh.

Arkady, I am not sure but likely. No worries, DH will bring a flask. I am not much of a beer drinker either.

4. We actually have a reason to drink on this one (We will be celebrating a particular PLUSAs accomplishment and honoring him if he chooses to disclose his/her information about the said accomplishment. Most PLUSAs already know the update).
5. It will not be as far for everyone as Sunset Park ( I meant Greenwood Heights).
6. Gives everyone an excuse to come out and enjoy the summer and have a few bruskies in a new place.
I’ll keep it at 6. I can come up with more reasons for this get together.

Hoffa Warns of Potential Strike in Teamster’s Washington Office
Aug. 10 (Bloomberg) — James Hoffa, president of the
International Brotherhood of Teamsters, is bracing for what he called the “embarrassment†of a potential strike by his own employees.
Hoffa, in a letter to officers of the union, warned that contract negotiations with workers in the Washington office “are not going well.†The workers “refuse to acknowledge the current economic conditions,†he said.
About 150 workers in the Washington office of the
Teamsters, whose contract expired June 30, are represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union, said Bret Caldwell, director of communications at the Teamsters.
Hoffa wrote that the union members “have a right to take strike action, and their union knows the embarrassment that such an event would create.â€
“However, no amount of embarrassment will cause us to
commit to a collective bargaining agreement that jeopardizes the financial health of your international union,†he wrote.
The union, which has negotiated previous contracts with the Teamsters, needs to share in “prudent belt-tightening,†Hoffa said.
