Good luck with the hangovers everyone. Time for me to try to rid my apartment of all this damned glitter and confetti and comb it out of the cat’s fur (she got into the bag with the glitter and confetti AGAIN while we were partying last night…I’ve got a sparkly cat!)
I remember looking at biff and dibs singing and dancing and saying to someone, omig-d- these men are in finance. then 6years got out there and someone said to me, omig-d- that man teaches children. I swear I laughed til I cried.
It really is a great group, more so because we enjoy the differences and lachacal is right- would we have been able to do this in offline life? Would we have taken the time to learn about one another if we weren’t on the internet? I personally think b’stoner is a remarkable experience in that it translated so well from online to offline.
It was 1987. Google “Sharkbite and TAT8” and you’ll see the story.
BTW: Rich Mondello and I were very close. He was my department head at Bell Labs for about 4 years. We grew up together in Gravesend, and even went to the same grammer school. I keep in touch with him from time-to-time. I also worked closely with Wally Dawson, who was also with Bell Labs before going over to GC.
Man, those old days at Bell Labs were a dream. All you needed was a good idea, and the money was there for you to do what you wanted. I thought up that sharkbite expedition in a discussion with a peer, presented it to my boss with the budget, and a couple of weeks later we hired a ship,a team of marine biologists, and off we were, at sea for 7 weeks.
It’s all gone. There is no creativity left. Everything has been reduced to a commodity, and you get beat up on price.
oops, look like I still haven’t recovered. I was going to say, jester, the thought of people on DailyKos and RedState getting together is slightly creepy – a vast self-affirmation fest.

Ok, Won Ton and the Pips it is, CGar.
lechacal, next karaoke gathering, you must sing “The Jackal”. Any West Wing fans here remember CJ Cregg’s rendition?

Great observations, jackal, slopefarm, MM. Nice to be bucking the trend.
Anyone can turn the volume down on my mic anytime. I can’t sing for sh*t!
