If it is just forms that need to be filled out, I think there are free services that can help if you are below a certain income level.
Rob, I know you’ve had a tough childhood. Whether or not you think you are ‘over’ it, you are not until you’ve had some help understanding it. If I recall you smoke, and sometimes you drink too much, and also dabble in other stuff. In all probability you are ‘self-medicating’ to help you exist. I also sense you are agoraphobic to some degree.
Of course this kind of mess also can give one some redeeming qualities, as DIBS and others have pointed out.
You also should not give up on finding a partner. Someone who takes an interest in you, besides your internet friends, can help you along the path.
So unfortunately I have to agree with some of the other posters who have suggested a session with a therapist. You should give it a try, even a single session and see what you think. You live in PS, for crissake, there’s one on every corner. Just don’t get one who thinks more drugs are the answer.
