  1. Either the neighbor knew he was the homeowner and acted out of irrational spite by calling the police, or she didn’t, saw something untoward, and acted out of goodwill.

Don’t see how it being 1230pm influences anything. Afternoon burglaries are quite common b/c houses are more likely to be unoccupied.

  2. Likewise, no pass. He’s 60+ years OLD! with a CANE! And believe you me, when a famous person lives on your block, you know about it. It was a racist response, and she needs to acknowledge it and apologize herself.

  3. ENY, we aint there but Obama being president has done wonders. He makes black parents, black kids, non-blacks,… see the positive possibilities. I even notice it in myself. I always find black kids super cute – especially kids with massive fro’s. Now, I think more than “how cute they are”. I often stare at them and think the kid could be a lawyer, senator, and yeah, a president. Positive perception is a very positive force. Heck, I stare at my boy and wonder if he could be president someday – something I wouldn’t have ponder prior to Obama being president. Mrs Obama rocks too. That’s a pretty looking family there

  4. My neighbor in Brooklyn called the cops when my friend a White man in his 50’s came to feed our cats and take in our mail while we were away. She had to give them his well worn set of keys, the note on the counter from us with feeding/how-to instructions with his name at the top Dear Ken…which wouldn’t you know it match his ID. They also called us to confirm the story.

So I can say that yes, it does happen to white guys. I was kinda happy my neighbor was looking out, but that’s just me I guess.

  5. “a nearly sixty year old bespectacled professor with a blue blazer who cannot walk without the aid of a cane”

    “12:30 PM in the afternoon.”

Sorry etson, the neighbor doesn’t get a pass from me. This guy would not appear to be a threat, or someone who would break into a house. Again, if the description were the same, with the one exception of the guy being white, would she have called the cops? Sounds like black man paranoia to me.
