  1. Re: The professor incident

There’s alot of different stories floating around out there – one i read said he didn’t produce any identification that proved he was a resided at that address (it said that he produced a Harvard ID)

Regardless – the whole thing sucks.

  2. To counterpoint super-sociable DIBS, I don’t know the majority of neighbors on my block. However, if you’re a fundraiser for the world’s preeminent university you’re probably a social type.

  3. Add my Here! here! to biff’s, M4L. All I could think of when he won was all the hard work and heartbreak that came before and made it possible.

Maybe we’ll never get rid of racism fully- if the Republican party has anything to say about we surely won’t), but at least now we know everything is possible and achievable.

I’m proud this country could get to this point, but I’ll be prouder still when jerks who make gorilla jokes about Michelle Obama, or California Councilman Gary Frago sends around racist emails about Obama get booted out of office (does anyone else remember those watermelon on the White House Lawn stamps?) because they’re racist schmucks.

  4. Thanks, Biff…I forgot today’s game was an afternoon game!

“I understand ENY, but, had he shown the cop his ID when asked do you think it would have escalated like it did?”

Perhaps not, but I can imagine the reaction of some of the posters here if after a long international flight, with bags in tow, they were approached in their homes by a cop asking you why she/he was there. Hell, I can imagine MY reaction! It’s true Dr. Gates wasn’t acting like a church mouse, but once he showed ID he certainly should NOT have been arrested. Furthermore, as CG Ups observes, Ms. Whalen would have every reason to know exactly who Dr. Gates is and that he lives NEXT DOOR. I’m with Dr. Gates – this was primarily about his being black.
