  1. Bxgrl – I don’t know all my neighbors. Could she be a racist bitch? Sure. Could she either A) Not know Gates B) Not recognized Gates – yuppers.

I’ll refrain from sharpening my pitchfork and igniting my torch until I am shown evidence proving them necessary.

The cop, as ENY posted, has a history of racial profiling. I think we can freely call him a racist douchebag now.

this kinda reminds me (not sure if it was mentioned above) when some hipster bitch in the bedford ave station got stopped by a hasidic officer because she had a dog on the train. she accused him of brutality blah blah blah and everyone jumped on the misogynistic hasidic bandwagon. It turns out she actually resisted arrest and was spewing anti-semetic slurs at him.

  2. Not specifically Neighborhood Watch, ditto.
Guess I did grow up in a place where burglary was at the time a bigger deal than racial politics. High incidence of burglary and both burglars and victims were almost always white.

  3. arkady dont be speechless, im not a republican or anything (tho sometimes i agree with some of them more than democrats). i dont like any polititians really. i just get the impression that people like to lick obama’s butt and not look objectively at how assisine the way he wants to run a country.

    *rob*

  4. The funny thing is that the Assheads on Brownstoner PROFILE black people everyday thru Covert Race/Class Warfare!

DIBS used the “N word” and no one here took him to task but everyone here want’s to suck the High Horse’s Balls!

    You are bunch of Hypocrites!!!!!!

    The What

Someday this war is gonna end..

  5. “But they certainly could have handled this better…”

Agreed, but only after he finally produced his ID. There was NO reason whatsoever for them to have arrested him. That crossed a line.

  6. I won’t touch the issue of whether or not there was malice in the heart of the neighbor – I can’t presume to know what she was thinking or feeling. As far as Mr. Gates and the responding police officers, I think both parties acted badly. Do I understand his anger and frustration with the situation? You bet. Should the cops automatically know he’s not up to no good? Nope. They had a right to ask him for ID…not just a right but an obligation to ask for ID based on the call they received. I think both sides got too heated too quickly and this was the unfortunate result.
