  1. Snappy, I’m not going to do any of those things. I try to stay away from touristy places as much as possible, unless it’s Ellis Island (although the waits to get the ferry are now unbearable – I would suggest getting advanced tickets that allow you to move to the front of the line).

Rob, I added that one. Sounds perfect for the kid. Also added Mme. Toussaud (sp?)

“Sam, most 11 yr olds now dont like Dinosaurs or Planetary stuff in museums – ”

M4L, exactly, which is why I will resist as much as possible in allowing my kids to have video games. Fortunately, they have an incredible interest in museums, and are obsessed with the NY Hall of Science. They spent 6 hours at the Brooklyn Museum yesterday with Mrs. C and protested greatly when she said it was time to leave!

  2. the economic situation in Asia is apples and oranges to what’s been going on in the U.S. Unemployment rate in Hong Kong never got above 4.7 percent.

Exactly my point. And because of that the cross trade dynamics have changed quite a bit over the last 10 years with US, J and EU trading partners all topsy turvy and Asia now the biggest consumer.

  3. HOLA FROM ESPANA!!!!! She said YES if anyone was paying attention last week. Got to run… duty calls. I can´t wait to get back but it´s been nice. Talk to everyone next week.

  4. dibs, the economic situation in Asia is apples and oranges to what’s been going on in the U.S. Unemployment rate in Hong Kong never got above 4.7 percent. We are big savers of money, and there was no toxic mortgage waste. “Recovery” here is faster because we didn’t fall that far.

As for mainland China, well their economy is controlled by the central government. They can massage their economic figures any which way they want, and manipulate their currency, and suppress information that is unfavorable to investment. There’s no rule of law, really, and everyone knows the state banks are a mess. So it is very difficult to know what is really going on there.

Keeping tabs on the amount of gold and property that mainlanders buy in HK is one way to tell how the Chinese economy is going 🙂

  5. it’s kinda touristy biff, but a lot of fun, and they have an arcade inside and the whole place is decorated like out space.. mars 2012 or something like that. somewhere in midtown, also Madama toussad’s wax museum would be fun!!!

  6.
